Handling and packaging of samples for surface analysis

Proper handling and packaging of samples are crucial for accurate surface analysis results. We can provide you with specific instructions on how to handle and package your samples to ensure the best possible results.

Here are some general recommendations of proper handling:

  1. Wear powder-free, silicone-free latex or nitrile gloves.

  2. Hold a sample by its edges.

  3. Avoid touching the surface of interest with bare hands and even with gloves.

  4. Use clean tweezers and other tools.

The following are preferred ways of packaging samples for shipment:

  1. Fluoroware containers.

  2. Glass vials or Petri dishes.

  3. Wrapping in Al foil, preferably with matte side towards the sample.

  4. Minimize the use of adhesive tapes. If the use of tape is necessary to hold the sample in its container, care should be taken to avoid any contact of the tape with the surface of interest.

  5. Avoid placing sample directly into plastic bag, because their inner surface may contain silicone or other antistick agents, which may contaminate the surface.
